Materials

Hart & Helix pieces are crafted using a small, intentional selection of materials chosen for durability, character, and longevity.

We work primarily with full-grain Italian Pueblo leather, sourced in small batches. Pueblo is vegetable-tanned and finished to retain its natural texture, allowing each hide to develop a distinct surface and patina over time.

Natural variation in color, grain, and markings is expected and celebrated. No two pieces will age the same.

Our hardware is solid brass, selected to wear in gracefully. With use, brass will develop a subtle patina that reflects the way a piece is carried and handled.

Patina & Aging

Leather is a living material. Over time, exposure to light, friction, and handling will deepen the color and soften the surface.

This aging process is not a flaw — it is part of the design. Each piece becomes more personal with use, developing character that cannot be replicated or rushed.

Care

Pueblo leather is resilient and requires minimal maintenance.

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth as needed

Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or direct heat

If the leather becomes wet, allow it to air dry naturally

In most cases, regular use provides all the conditioning the leather needs. If desired, a small amount of neutral leather balm may be applied sparingly.

What to Expect

Subtle marks, tonal shifts, and surface changes are normal and part of wearing natural leather. These variations reflect the material’s integrity and the way it’s been used.
